Woe

So, my new tool, Yojimbo, was delighting me. I was streamlining how i handled data for tasks, emptying my email inbox (realizing how quickly i could go through it if i had an efficient information manager.) Then, last night i hit a synchronization roadblock, and data i added to the work machine just won't sync with my home machine. This horror story gives me more pause.

I've already paid for Yojimbo, but I hate the sync nightmare. And i've had enough MobileMe nightmares to feel like i should abandon the effort now before i have far too much investment to back out. (I hadn't yet imported all my bookmarks from Delicious, but that was my plan.)

Admittedly, i could just use the "Sidekick" mode -- a website generated with the data from Yojimbo -- from my work machine. But that seems painfully crippled.

Skimming results for "Yojimbo competitors" at these links --

-- i find myself pondering Evernote. I hadn't liked it because it seemed so cloud heavy. Yojimbo's cloud solution uses a cloud solution i'm already paying for, MobileMe, and uses a cloud data store i've already committed to. Essentially, my privacy exposure didn't *grow* by adding Yojimbo. If i use Evernote, they have my data on their cloud. On the other hand, as a competitor for delicious (more cloud), it certainly isn't different.

I think, for a little while, i'll use Evernote for bookmarks and things i wouldn't encrypt, and see how it goes.
