The Avengers (The Movie)
I feel really crappy. Here's hoping the loratidine kicks in, but that still won't address the ache in my right hand i'm trying to ignore. Nahnahnahnah.
Anyhow, watching The Avengers movie and i can't make it through the credits without noting
ITS ALL WRONG
I'm no font goddess, but this font does not say you're about to me Old School Brit John Steed and delicious Ms Peel. Nope. It says 007. As do the swoopy graphics, the extended title sequence, and the music, and the silhouettes of curvy women. NO NO NO, this is a James Bond opening not an Avengers opening.
Ah, Magritte-like image of man with bowler, now umbrella, pocket watch, carnation. And certain defensive arts. That's fine. Fine. *hee*
Hmm, prospero program weather shield. Hm. Mother is also a good fit.
OK, having a meeting of the two is interesting.
Oh, and the old boys club is a nice twist.
OK, so the approach to the Ministry (on the first visit to Mother) looks very Prisoner-like. Is this a tip to The Prisoner or an obvious British location. I am at a loss. Yay for the car.
The banter is ... acceptable.
Sean Connery at the Organ is... hmmmm.
The Emma Peel double seems a cheap plot to me.
The Wonderland Weather with the many colorful bears amuses.
Oh good heavens. A MAP! A CLUE!
Hmm, Mother paraphrases the Red Queen (`I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. `When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. There goes the shawl again!')
I'm *still* not fond of the presence of Father. Not at all. Strangely attractive, though. (I think she reminds me of the female lead in The Matrix. She played Irma Prunesquallor in a 2000 version of Gormenghast. Hmmm!)
Oh, the bubble walkers remind me of The Prisoner as well.
Oh, more bubbles.
Hmm. So, title credits are a complete fail, but the rest was fine.
