Well, 2000 to now, that's eighteen years -- birth to early adulthood for a child.

I'm not sure this outline is far from the average amount of life drama, simply less common dramatic events. I've listened to my mother say "when this settles down i will do" some thing for herself for so many years, and she never gets to the the thing. I don't think life settles down.
