Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Good plan to try them out/break them in before you go.

Minimal clothes possible. Check what the weather is generally like. Better to have lighter items you can layer if gets colder, then one very heavy item.

Not sure how long you are going, but consider washing out underwear in the sink. (Alternative is wear underwear you were going to get rid of anyhow, and throw out after use.)
