I just read an article about how the clinching evidence that Aaron Burr had a second family of color was the deed where Aaron Burr bought his (previously unknown) son land to build a house.

I wonder how well an epistolary-like novel would work where the narrative included a great deal of public record documents. I think there would have to be a vary active local paper to make such a novel lively.
