Art:21, Season 1 (2000), Episode: Consumption

That previous post took a long time -- partly because i kept letting myself get distracted by morning things. Christine was watching Art:21 (http://www.pbs.org/art21/series/seasonone/consumption.html) over breakfast and it introduced me to two artists who were particularly fascinating.

Matthew Barney (http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/barney/index.html) and his Cremaster Cycle of five films http://www.cremaster.net/

This just looks fascinating, no clear way to see the cycle of five intense films.

andrea zittel (http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/zittel/index.html) and her a-z projects http://www.zittel.org/

her experiments in leaving environments and clothing fascinated me. Regrettably, her website only mentions the uniform experiment (wearing a crocheted dress of her own design for a season) and her A-Z East site. Delightfully, she's down in the Mohave near Joshua Tree now. A tempting dream.

The last artist didn't connect with me, but the concepts of phytoextraction/phytomining and hyperaccumulator plants was interesting just to know the jargon.
