I have been thinking for years about how the soil and plants are not gatekeepers: whether don't keep you from working with them, and your work has effects (desired or not). I hadn't thought about how you can make progress on your land even while the gleeful destroyers put the world on fire. I'm not going all Voltaire, though I don't diss the environmental changes that can emerge from one plot-- just appreciating land work as a comfort in sore times. The land doesn't deny you traction, and it works with you.
