Left home at 18:17 and headed to Sanford through Pittsboro, forgetting that through traffic is blocked by road construction at the courthouse. I don't think it did anything but put me behind a few minutes. I set the trip odometer a few miles from home, too. Google maps, with coaxing, says four miles. Crepe myrtles by the road were stunning. GMaps routed me off I-95 due to an accident near the NC-SC border causing hour-long backups, but it was often four lanes and divided with rare traffic. Sandhills landscape twinged all sorts of growing-up memories, pin oaks and scrub oaks. Not south enough for Spanish moss yet. Loved the colors of summer in the late evening light with the glow from cloud tops.
