Having lost my mother years ago I can say it's always a bit of a surprise how much you learn about them at the end or after they've gone.

I have to say I think your tea towel idea is an excellent one. Stuff you use regularly is something I find to be the most useful. There are things she owned that I still have, and I find that practical things that friends have given me make me think of them often.
