It turns out magnolia leaves can stand in for bay leaves, and the flowers do have an fascinating flavor. It's strong, but in a sauce that might be lovely.

I've never had any sumac, but i've read how lovely tart it is. I wonder if the tea is like the drink i've read described as a "pink lemonade" like drink, made from the berries. Or if it's a tea from the leaves?
