Yesterday morning and this morning i interrupted myself as i studied a mysterious slowdown on our home network marked by long roundtrips to the ISP's DNS and some packet loss. Yesterday, i had flutters of worries as i saw my laptop was initiating traffic on odd ports and contacting odd destinations(appeared to be personal machines, not known servers). I grew to believe that was skype traffic. And then there was another sweep of outbound traffic, which i eventually decided was the RSS feed updating. Could we have enough stuff going on that we overload our DSL more than streaming video? Surely not.
Thank heavens it's Friday. I think i'm goofing off this afternoon if i can pull it off. I have not had much time this work week where i didn't feel work pressure. I suspect there will be a continued slope up as we approach the end of the fiscal year and deadlines become rigid.
I am least looking forward to sitting in on some other team's two hour planning meeting this afternoon. It may be an interesting contrast to my team's.
I will try to remember to breathe and to not berate myself (too much).
