In either case, i think that would have been fun. My live band attendance was squeezed into a short period in the late eighties, mostly. I checked https://www.concertarchives.org/ and neither would have come anywhere near the Raleigh area at that time.
I saw Kansas and Cheap Trick in 1975 or 1976 on the night of an epic winter storm; the police literally closed the freeway after my boyfriend's car came down onto it. I was 14, I think. Mostly what I remember is how loud it was, being next to these giant speakers.
I saw a Kansas documentary that advised that Kansas and Queen frequently played on the same bill during midwest tours, and got along very well. I like that juxtaposition of unlikely companions. Both apparently liked the hard work on musicianship that each band exhibited.
Well, given Sunday's outcome, i now need to think of a LA Rams-ish band to go up against the Bangles a few Sundays from now. Apparently there's a band Ram Jam....
