I reread Primary Inversion last night as Christine listened to the game. It's as if i'm re-initiating my escapist reading sequences.
I also watched a couple episodes of Poldark as i worked on the striped loom-knit scarf for Christine. I can't wait to take it off the loom and begin crocheting the edges!
For ebook management, I'm using Calibre to get my eBook library in order and manage the transfer from my phone and back to the laptop. I'm fairly pleased, but i wish that pdf books were more flexible. Calibre can translate between formats, but apparently PDF's markup rarely makes it clear what strings of text flow together when reading a layout that looks like a magazine or newspaper. I blame the producers of the PDFs: my guess is PDF supports helpful markup, but that most folks use WYSIWYG editors and ignore the functions to structure their documents.
I assume that if i want to enjoy PDFs, i'd need a bigger device. (I'm happy reading them on my laptop.)

Hunting season has opened and i can hear the pop of gunshots out by the bay. It reminds me of an article about a gun protest i read this morning. Apparently California has changed its open carry law to exclude handguns: i realize how little i understand about open carry, concealed carry, guns in the glove compartment, guns where ever. I also don't know anything about fishing licenses here in California, either.
I have, however, learned a great deal about the mandolin family of instruments.
Christine has dress rehearsal tonight. I'll be at the Palo Alto and Mission Dolores concerts below
4:00 pm Sunday, October 30th -- All Saints' Episcopal, 555 Waverly St, Palo Alto
7:30 pm Friday, November 4th -- Mission Dolores, 16th and Dolores, San Francisco
4:00 pm Sunday, November 6th -- All Souls Episcopal, 2220 Cedar St, Berkeley
4:00 pm Sunday, November 13th -- First Church of Christ Scientist, 522 "B" Street, Petaluma
The description of the performance can be found at http://www.sfmandolin.org/concerts.shtml
