Fava appears to be in a different genus than Phaseolus vulgaris, the common bean (black bean, kidney bean, pinto bean, green bean), so i'm not surprised they do taste different. But Cranberry beans are a variety of common bean. I've never had them, so i guess i'll give them a try.
