There's a good sized swath of yard where we have a low native rosette grass from the Dichanthelium genus growing. I love this grass! Because it's a rosette, it often has room between clumps and that is where the violets grow. There were a few weeks where this was glorious with the greening grass and the purple flowers.

We're now in ground bee season, and everywhere there are little piles of dirt where the ground excavated by the ground bees that just swarm around. I can walk in flip flops through them without any harm to me, but it is rather ... peculiar to watch such a dense community of solitary bees fly in the grasses.
