I saw lots of recipes with the spices, but also advice that by not adding the spices one could use the lemon in many more contexts. Everyone also highly praises Meyer lemons and I then pout about leaving my Meyer lemon tree in California. ( I don't have a good sunny place inside here for one.) I'm pretty sure I would make a Shaker lemon pie if I had many Meyers at hand.
