I ran across the recipe, which sounded good. And I didn't have raisins or currants, which would be traditional. One can of course buy dried fruits. But the recipe called for soaking fruit in tea-- and I suddenly thought how I could *simmer* fruit in tea, and give them figs their best chance. And they seemed to like it. :D
I have a long habit of noticing recipes of interest and sometimes even making them. But I'm also looking forward to visiting Wales, and was even before we were planning to live in England for a while. So I've been learning a little Welsh on Duolingo. I am disappointed to say that Welsh is not one of the languages fielded by Leeds University, which is near Harrogate. However, I'll be able to learn Latin properly if I want.
