So. Christine touches down in 70 minutes or so.

Yawn. Must. Stay. Awake!

Thanks to the power of procrastination, there has been vacuuming, i cleaned some horrible bits in the fridge, and i actually put up all the groceries.

The quarterly report is due TUESDAY not tomorrow, so i am not cramming like i expected i would be. Instead i watched a sweet little fable of a movie, Penelope.

Ah, yes, the power of procrastination.

I didn't go to Meeting but instead, after the Library Committee meeting, i drove in the downpour to the farmers market. The weather shifted, and stopped raining. After getting apples, golden beets, radishes, celery, more cipollini onions, a pomegranate, and a trio of artichokes, i did the grocery run. I can't believe Thanksgiving is so close. I don't have much in the way of plans, but bought the requisite French cut green beans, makings for pumpkin pie, CREAM, and wildish rice (Texmati white brown and red plus wild rice). The Dungeness crab were on sale, but i don't want to buy them and keep them in the fridge like i did last year. Lesson learned. We've plenty of food in the house for a long holiday weekend.

I was still feeling the anxiety of Oh My The Quarterly Report Is Due and fired up the work computer. As soon as i found i wasn't completely out of time, i was scrubbing the refrigerator. Is there a chance i'll work on it when i'm fresh tomorrow?

Then i was off to the city to meet up with a friend i have not seen in a while. I had a feeling that she had bad news, and indeed, she's broken up with her partner and other Sad Family Stuff. She seems to be doing OK (several months after the fact). She's moved to Sacramento, which is almost easier to plan to go to than the town just north of Berkeley where she used to live. (Open highways out of the Bay Area and not the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacArthur_Maze" congestion near the maze of the Bay Bridge.

We ended up nibbling on vegetables at Sears Fine Food. (They stopped serving breakfast at 3 pm, so no Swedish pancakes for A.) Then we walked up to Grace Cathedral from Union Square and walked the labyrinth. The steep grade really gave me a work out.
It was good to visit and fun to see the holiday bustle.

OK, i'm off to the airport!!!!

I hope Christine's travels went okay! It sounds like you are getting to enjoy food (yay!) and doing stuff around the house that pleases you. Glad the report isn't due today. :)
