Saturday: we're off to the coastal city of New Bern, the port of entry founded by one of my ancestors, and settled by others. While getting all settled in the car I saw that there were bluebirds in a bluebird house on their fence. Delightful!

We stopped in Rosewood, a little town I lived in from 3rd grade to 7th, I think. Driving around the dip in the road, the curve to the left, and into the subdivision I realized I do dream that landscape.

We stopped to see the remains of a civil war iron clad and then had lunch in a main street restaurant in Kinston. Very NC food, but a nice salad plate & hush puppies! (Corn bread fried bread balls.)

Coming into New Bern I trusted Google's driving directions for the hotel address. Major failure as we were routed across the Trent and into the Croatoan National Forest. Dad's Harming is getting us out.

We're almost there!

Wednesday I thought about tweet/facebook posting, "Confronted with runny hotel grits, I remember why I didn't like grits growing up. Also, this is 2 eggs, not 1. Missing Christine's cooking." Somehow, though, it seemed too private. I'm not sure why.

(Thursday) We're having a consolidation of unconference session topics meeting. I'd be tempted to bail but then what would I go do?

(Friday) Well, I am beginning to appreciate the musing level that is occurring, appreciate the process of refining.
