My sister wrote to check in on me, and i replied:
Resting yesterday took the edge off my sore throat, i think. I doubled up on antihistamines (morning claritin after evening allegra) and started taking all of the respiratory meds (two different inhalers and a nasal spray). My system is better, i think, but i haven't really challenged my attention span yet. My guess is the coughing is more asthma than illness, and the sore throat was triggered from sinus issues. I didn't want it to turn into the laryngitis i had in December!

I do leave for Ohio on Monday, and i will try not to overdo it. No evening plans with colleagues at this time; i may keep it that way.

I did go to the Care and Concerns Meeting last night. The list of people for whom there are concerns is challengingly long. We are short participants, one of whom is dealing with a seriously ill husband. (Another who manages to attend travels many hours to care for her aging, failing mother.)

I had tried to make a survey of Meeting folks who might be able to support others. I sent a simple one out via our email list, and decided i would get clever and make one with Google Forms.

Argh! Google forms, you are maddening! I could rant over specific details, but the upshot is that there seems to be no easy and appropriate way to summarize the responses (particularly to checkbox questions) in an easily presentable format. I could make the form a g'zillion times longer and take the checkbox options for different ways to support folks and turn each one into a standalone question with a yes/maybe/no response, but that will hardly be compact.

I had tried doing a data collection on myself some months ago (logging symptoms and diet) and found the reporting and spreadsheet structuring not particularly helpful. The spreadsheet collecting data behind the form changes as the form changes in wonky ways. This time i tried making "reserved" columns to expand later: it didn't behave as i expected.

At least i have the questionnaire designed: i can manage the next steps with other technology, i think.

I really really ought to deal with my travel expenses today.
