The roofing on our unit officially finished on Friday, just before the early October rains. I think, though, most of the commotion ended two weeks ago, and the last two weeks have been getting everything put back just so. I don't think Mr M has acces to the printed schedule, but he is now back out from under the bed, purring that gigantic purr of his while being close. It's wonderful to have the little love engine back out and about.
I'd been missing him, worrying about his aging. Maybe without the roof ruckus, he'll be back to his old self.
Roofing went on for a couple months there. Other units still remain to be done.
The sky is clearing out there. I know the front came through last night, blew the door to the office shut, knocked lots of dead needle sprigs out of the redwoods, and left the roads wet. All the Yosemite webcams are dark at this hour: inches of snow are predicted at 6000 feet. The road to the Sonora pass that i visited just a few weekends ago with my sister is closed for snow storm preparation and chains are required.
It's the beginning of the rainy season here, and is a new beginning for many lifecycles in as much as circles have "beginnings." I remember my first year here, marveling at the fresh green grass at Thanksgiving.
Planning went well yesterday, even though it's hard and intense. New Director showed up for the first hour and a half, it seemed, but he's hardly seems present. We continue to wonder, "Why is he here?" I remain convinced that it is an unconscious escape: if he can keep traveling, he can always point to being out of the office to why he can't be present in other meetings. I hope i can be graceful, grace filled, as he and i discuss my performance review this evening.
Library committee was wonderful and grounding. I really enjoy the small committee, and enjoy our work nights. Someday, someone new will join.
