Fava beans taste different from other beans. So do cranberry beans, to a lesser extent. Runner bean plants are among very few plants that I can smell, but I have so little sense of smell that I have idiosyncratic responses, so I find it a mildly pleasant, nostalgic smell but wouldn't assume others like it. Your basic dried red, black, and pink beans - I dunno, because I used to cook them in fiery curries :-) Sorry, not much help! I am soooo not a foodie.
