Yesterday's commitments were definitely derailed by the whole sudden "buy a place, earn equity" rush, with the added realization - "look at the yard!" Owning a home was one of the things i talked with the career person about as a definition of success. It's not so much financial success as responsible adult success, a mark of being able to make decisions that indicate one is past the care for the immediate moment and gratifying the small wants.
The coldest water thrown on the thought of buying a place was the thought of committing to the Bay Area. I do have a network of support and friends here, but it's not clear to me that here is a place we can thrive. Moving back to NC to be nearer family has a great deal of appeal to me, despite the politics of the state.
Today, meeting with friends for breakfast (our monthly last of the month gathering), Meeting for Worship, then home to get a few MUSTs done today. Minimally, must get flex plan monies!
Marzipan was fun to play with. Lessons: buy the log at World Market not the local grocery store next time. Definitely a pleasant way to make a treat. Might be delightful as holiday gifts for family and friends. Thanksgiving
Ordered more tea. My vendor has no organic keemun, so i had to discern organic something else (for the workers' benefit, not mine), or keemun (because i don't like the "brisk" in Assams on an empty stomach, and i've never been able to appreciate a Darjeeling). My preference won, and i am nagged by the same regret as when i don't think carefully about where and how clothes are made.
Also, tea prices seem to have gone up (finally).
This morning i think i feel the discomfort, the "hunger," of withdrawal. One of the benefits of doing that demanding food restriction test was learning how this sense of discomfort is not because i need more calories. I had a lovely large piece of fish and broccoli for dinner last night, and a stack of rice cakes (within my 200 or so budget) when i was craving desert. Pickles instead of chips yesterday.
Yay pickles!
Christine is eschewing anything but Clausen pickles now. I'm noticing the garlicy flavor of pickles and remembering pickles that also had strong clove notes. Anyone know what brand of pickle is more clove-y? I may just add my own cloves.
