I went into The Iron Lady resistant, but the ghostly romance softened me. I found the "first woman battling through the male ranks" narrative to resonate a little. I remember some of the battle hardened women in physics trying to urge me to become a battle axe. Not enough passion on my part, and so i'm left with resentment at how warping trying to be taken seriously in the world of men can be. (Not to mention that my job feels like it has more and more male energy.)
And i think the gender issues are the only place i have any sympathy with her. The film seemed to show here as pretty dreadful with her kids, pretty oblivious to her husband.....
