Elephant wrangling is not easy, but makes life so much better. As someone who's done a fair bit of writing for various reasons (from published children's easy readers to training documents to humorous fiction) rewriting is where the rubber really meets the road. Getting beyond the first draft and rewriting is where the skill and talent really comes from, IMHO.
