I generally cope fine with my usual sinus congestion. I think i was told to take mucenex partly because of the ear infection, and just wanting to clear out any possible causes of more infection.
People rave about sinus rinsing, neti pots and the like. I just can't get up the enthusiasm to do it regularly. Have you tried? I'm using NeilMed Sinus Rinse bottles, and i appreciate not having to do the neti pot contortions. If you haven't tried, it might be worth reading up on.
