I bought the iPad application Procreate early on and have given away my big box of crayons and my colored pencil collection and i'm not sure what else: i enjoy having the "sketch pad" with me whenever the whim strikes me.
Your loss sounds like a hard one to grieve in that the sense of grief might be evoked by very unexpected things, and it might not be clear that's what the grief is about. I'll hold you both in my thoughts.
