I love the concept of changing frames of a story. I started writing a science fiction story in my 20s with a main character of an alien race who was going to travel to discover aliens--us. One of these days I might restart it. I don't think actual lavender-furred skin is feasible but might go to a lavenderish-gray, much like some dogs and cats. I can use Ivan as a phyiscal example.
I am sorry you had that sor to panic attack about the doctor's office. Hope it doesn't happen again, at least not somewhere it's important to "finish" and get important things done for yourself.
