Re: praying in public, I find it darkly amusing that the prayer they're so hot to say in public is almost always the one that comes *right* after Jesus says "don't pray in public; your words should be between you, and God."
At the same time, that does speak to the tribal nature of the demand; tribal markers are things that it's easiest for a person to be blind about.
