I seem to have lost most of my sense of taste and my tongue feels tingly and sensitive. I over brewed a tea that doesn't take well to it this morning -- and had no idea until i realized the lid wasn't sitting right because the leaf basket was still in the pot. The two suspicions are some sort of allergic reaction and side effect of a putative sinus infection that i've been ignoring.

I took yesterday very easy, at first because i didn't want to get out of bed early enough to avoid the worst heat, then because i realized the putative sinus infection was indeed causing a bit of a headache.

I spent much of the day in the (perhaps obsessive compulsive) pursuit of going through to do lists and taming them. It's hard to just wipe them out (because of the suspicion that critical reminders

Monday:
Yeah, so sinus infection, probably. Pretty miserable feeling, but making the best of it.

Grass is sprouting, which is delightful. It's not sprouting in the sunnier areas, which is a little worrisome. Possibly it dried out more than i thought? Watered tonight.

I'm attempting a traditional preservation technique with basil: layering leaves in salt. We'll see if that works as well as it seems to promise. Christine asks, "Lute-basil?" (As in lutefisk, which isn't quite the same as salt packed) Next will be chopping basil and mixing with salt, and then a shrub syrup.

Intersting about what you are doing with the basil leaves. We have a huge basil plant that is just kind of sitting there growing. Malida uses some of the leaves for cooking, but when I suggested drying them, she told me it won't work in Thai cooking. "Whatever'" I thought to myself.
