I find the same tends to be true with my partner who is almost always negative about things, the whole glass half full vs half empty. And I was thinking just the other day how nice it is that, although we have very abbreviated foliage these days thanks to erratic weather patterns, that right now we are having a week with color changes and I love seeing them :)
