I'm sorry work was draining! I hope that the next and coming weeks are easier.
The organization and anxiety stuff so resonates with me. My mother was also a strict organizational theorist and a world of chaos when eventually on her own. (Which certainly explains to me why we kids were always so unable to be better enough at org for the house to be clearer.) Interestingly, she could never get rid of the teetering piles of newspapers and mail because there were Important Papers in there. (I am pretty sure that the Important Papers were purely fantastical.)
I got off lucky, in my view. I'm reasonably well organized, but not anxious about it, except for one thing: It is hard for me to look for a seldom-sought thing such as I need for, say, doing income tax prep, even though I have a very good idea where it is-- because what if it ISN'T? And obviously putting off initial search is obviously counterproductive. Fortunately I've got better at just pushing past that, and almost invariably find the thing where I first looked, if not, in the second.
