I've been experiencing an unpleasant level of night sweats lately. What to do? Apparently one can buy pricy pyjamas and sheets made of bamboo rayon to increase comfort. Dharma Trading company sells some bamboo fiber "blanks" and tries to find non-sweatshop produced items -- but the only adult sized item is socks. (I have the socks already: they're very soft.) I found random t-shirts that didn't approach the price of the pyjamas, but that would only address the top half of my problem.

While i was mulling, i tried sleeping on big towels. This was promising, although not entirely satisfying. Safety pins proved unsafe. Still, the general principle seemed sound. I noticed bamboo fiber bath sheets were available, but the best prices were eBay vendors who all had similar photographs and ... well, i just wasn't comfortable throwing $50 for two towels at them. Back to Dharma Trading company: i recalled they had fabric. Yup, a bamboo fiber fleece. I could get three yards of that fleece, each yard covering the same area as a bath sheet, for the price of two towels.

I finally made up my mind: i'm not sure why i was stewing on this so long, except a futile wish the sweats would go away (nope, at least three more months on the meds -- and sooner or later i'll hit menopause). I ordered the fleece from Dharma, and it arrived yesterday. I fondled it a little yesterday -- oh, it is SOFT -- and cut the yardage during a break today.

It needs to get washed before i can use it, though. There's some horrible fume causing treatment on the fabric. I just doing a little crochet blanket stitch to a raw edge was too much exposure for me.

But the edge treatment will be just fine. I can't decide about getting out the so rarely used sewing machine -- just a bunch of straight seams! -- but the crochet is ... crochet.
