*People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question.

*Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

I like the changing question part, but i don't like the tagging others part.

1. How do you deal with boring meme questions? Boring is easy: i either ignore them or throw down a quick answer.

2. What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep? I don't recall how i might have coped in college. Since living in California i suppose the most sleepless i've been is either when we took red-eyes east or an attack of insomnia this summer when i was occasionally getting four hours of sleep in the night.

3. Which do you use more often, the dictionary or the thesaurus? Dictionary, looking up stings of letters that Scrabulous claims are words.

4. What's your favorite HP movie? What does favorite mean to you? I ask, because i really don't think i have a personal experience of favorite. "Preferred" is similarly useless. I need more constraints. With "favorite HP movie," i'm afraid i've probably only seen two.

5. What windows do you have open at the minute? Fewer than normal because i shut all sorts of things down last night while videos were being converted for my phone. 14 show up when i do the desktop reveal thing: (1) Firefox has five tabs (haven't learned to use the tab groups yet, but my is that going to be dangerous), (2-3) iTunes has a speaker option pane as well as the main window, (4) Yojimbo, (5) Evernote, (6-7) Missing Sync with the log window open, (8) Adium has a complaint window about authenticating to Facebook, (9) a timer called Minuteur, (10) Activity Monitor, (11) Mail, (12) Address book, (13) Skype, (14) a terminal.

6. What’s one sneaky thing you like doing? Sneaking? Sneaking? Fat Hobbit is always so polite. Smeagol shows them secret ways that nobody else could find, and they say "sneak!" Sneak? Very nice friend. Oh, yes, my precious. Very nice, very nice.

7. Did you ever want to slap a parent (not your own), and why? No. I think for me to really want to slap someone has to do with someone's engagement with me directly, and in that role, they might be a parent but that's not why i'd be slapping them. If this meant slap in a metaphorical sense, it could have stood some editing.

8. Dog person or cat person? What animal companions have you enjoyed having? We currently have three cats, who delight us. We have always talked about having dogs: i grew up having lots of room for a dog to freely roam, and don't feel i have the place in my life for dog walking. Christine is talking more and more about small dogs (not toy dogs, though) and we might.... Well, i still think there's not enough room in the bed. I love the horse i grew up with, and dream of other horses. I don't think i ever treated the chipmunks, turtles, and hamsters i had growing up as companions, and at this point would not subject small furry critters to the probable predations of Greycie Loo. While i can imagine a bird being a pleasant companion, the Greycie Loo is too much of a hunter for me to consider. And i worry that my parents neglect the bird they have.

9. Write the first word that comes to mind. First

10. What's the last dream you remember having? Can't recall a specific last dream. Can't even recall the general mood of the last dream i recorded. This is what tags are for.

11. A project you want to finish? What is a project you should lay aside? I'm wondering about writing monthly news roundups about "my" creek. I haven't written one this year, and i have stacks of links to review. I don't want to lay it down, but each month i have to be realistic and let it slide. I hope i manage to at least participate in the clean up this year, but i suspect i'll miss that. I suppose i'll let myself see what i think in a few months.

12. What are you doing this weekend? Resting, feeling pulled inward, and doing lots of small tasks.

13. How are you? Are you procrastinating on anything? If there's more than one, what is the the most trivial? Of the many things i am procrastinating on, i think it's addressing an envelope for a crochet block i made last weekend. I carried it to work with me every day i went in, and had it sitting next to me the days i was home. Let's get that taken care of today.

14. What are you doing tomorrow? What is your next planned social activity? (I am striking one of two questions in the same question.) I might have lunch planned with someone on Thursday. If not, i have a standing coffee date for Sunday morning in a week.

15. What are you looking forward to the most? What delights you most about the season you're experiencing? I think it's the return of robin song in dark before dawn, although all the growth in my garden provides a different sort of delight.

16. Last thing you did? What were you doing before you began engaging with your networked device (computer, phone, tablet)? I was feeding the cats.

17. How long have you known your oldest friend? How did you meet the friend(s) you've had the longest [who are not your "family of origin"]? I have friends from middle school whom i've been in constant contact with over the years. I can't recall specific classes, though. One is a person i had a crush on, the other also had a crush on the same person.

18. If you were a country, what anthem would you choose? If i really were "a country" i'd hire someone to write an anthem for me. It would be something i'd enjoy singing so it would not challenge contralto, and the music probably would sound like something out of a Presbyterian hymnal. The words would express a shared covenant of care.

19. What is your favourite kind of pie? If you could have any pie you wanted for your next meal, what would you choose? I haven't had breakfast yet, so i'd want a pie that was not very sweet. A two-crust fruit pie where the sweetener was molasses (for apple or pear) or none at all for blackberry or peach. Ok, i'd want a peach pie made with peaches picked that July morning from a Georgia or South Carolina orchard. Oh, but now i'm remembering blueberry pies, where we picked the berries in the early summer morning cool.... Blueberry pie, definitely.

Great. That's not possible for breakfast today.

20. Weren't there supposed to be twenty questions? I'm not sure.

If I were a country, I'd license the original Hockey Night in Canada theme music as my national anthem.

Wait! It's not an anthem unless Neal Peart is playing the drums!
