Late night last night, but i think i'm getting things lined up. In the past i wore so many hats that i couldn't do many of the supposed-tos in the corporate project and product management. I blew them off and assumed if it was really important someone would yell at me.
Now that the team has more folks with defined roles, i can focus on my "release manager" hat. It's just in time, too, because my new director's division is beginning to be more structured and managed because of a significant client's scrutiny. I am appalled a contract was signed that allows the client to have this much scrutiny as are most of the US Whale staff with whom i speak. On the other hand, when folks complain about the client's behavior in demanding transparency and accountability, i snort. Someone internal should have been observing the complete and utter lack of project management and planning, or at least how any planning was mostly decoupled from the action. So, now it is beginning.
And i'm thankful that i have time to focus on it.
However, working until 1 am can't repeat.
As last summer, i worry that so much else of my life is falling by the way side.
Minimum, i'm going to need to plan my personal year to account for "Corporate Reorg and Budget Panic" every year in May.
Other Minimum: i must start walking again!!
