In wonderful scheduling news, my 8:30 has been moved to 9:30. For my colleagues in the eastern time zone, this means they get a short lunch before returning to their desks. They suggested it. Huzzah, huzzah.

In stress news, i woke thinking of work. I am not scheduled to death this week, and so my brain is trying to sort out priorities. They all squeal for attention.

In, "I'm turning into my mother," news, i realized it was so as i was washing up dishes before 6 am.

In Grammar news, a question: I know the commas offsetting the quoted section above is correct for a quotation, to indicate someone speaking. But is it correct for the use i've applied? I think it's silly, and normally would have left them out. It seems quoted phrases, when not indicating a direct quotation, should be treated differently, more in the flow of the sentence. No pause.

In moon news, it hangs high overhead at 6 am, its half illumined face shining down on the deck, stars spangled out around it. A fine layer of clouds with gauzy braids shimmers between moon and earth.

We now turn to our lead story.

--==∞==--

With the space in my schedule this week (except, of course, the lunch time i wanted to spend on other purposes) i was able to go take a walk near the office for half an hour during the middle of the day. I do have a suspicion about bright warm sunlight sapping more of my energy than simply exercise does, and it was very bright out. That this contradicts the effect of bright light in treating my seasonal affective disorder doesn't escape my note.

The walk, while blistering my feet and making me much more warm, did clear and settle my mind. I don't think i was able to sort through my high priority tasks but i hit a great deal of miscellaneous tasks during the afternoon. I ate a protein bar hoping to offset the energy loss from the walk.

Upon arriving home, though, i was weary. Plenty of time for this and that, but i could just barely motivate myself to eat with Christine, plan meals, and then head to the grocery store. Christine blamed the dark for me, that's why i wanted to go to sleep at 8 pm.

Exercise in the sun?
Avoiding the committee notes & agenda i need to pull together?
Getting up so early?
Lack of adrenaline?

Grammar flyby: a comma is only required when introducing a quotation that forms a complete sentence, although if the quote is long, one feels the need of the comma anyway. Your quote above (which is quoting your thinking to yourself) thus doesn't need the comma before it and hence doesn't need the one after it. But personal styles do vary :-)

Yay for an extra hour in the am! Still a freaking early start to the day tho.
