[Written this morning] We've returned from our day and a half up at Mt Lassen (A as in Lassie; i had mispronounced the name with a much more broad "a" over the years).

We hiked to hell in the rain, Bumpass Hell that is, site of one of the hottest fumaroles in the world (not associated with an active volcano) and burbling hot muds and springs. We probably did not get the full impact of the sulfur smells with the rain rinsing the air.

It was beautiful and wonderful and fascinating, and i want to make videos and a little book to share with my east coast family -- and i need to engage back in things HERE. Laundry, library committee, oversight committee meeting Thursday night. Can i get books (that i've carried in the car for a *year*) to a friend in the city today or Saturday?

Tumble tumble tumble.

Christine emotionally crashed on the way home, we returned to find one of our hard drives had died before it had backed up all the photos i left on it.

I did make interesting food for dinner last night. I fried tofu and onion and eggplant in rice flour. I don't think i had let the oil get hot enough at the beginning, so the eggplant cubes seem to be saturated with oil. Oh, well. But i made patties of eggplant cubes and tofu with much rice flour -- i think they'll be good quick protein servings. Wheat flour means saying no to most veggie patties on the market, and i miss being able to make quick lunches with those and something green. I shall experiment further.

Meanwhile, i wonder if i am sensitive to corn, not wheat and dairy. I don't see my symptoms abating much, with one particular symptom getting worse (more consistently present).
