We are 75 miles to the south of the fires and the winds weren't too bad here yesterday. (Gusts of 50 mph instead of plus 100 mph.) I do have relatives near there, but so far they are doing okay.

Thanks for commenting! And i hope you are doing OK in general. The pandemic felt like moving to a whole new place -- and you had moved to a whole new place.

Considering we moved from a rural house next to a grass meadow to a eminently defensible subdivision, I am feeling very good about that decision as we watch the horrors near Boulder CO. Twenty-five years in a high risk area was enough for me.

Animal Farm is just a couple of miles south of where the latest-breaking pre-evac orders were made, and we could see the glow of the wildfire over the ridge. But things were stationary five hours and the glow nearly gone by 10:00, so I went to sleep, smelling smoke all night and dreaming of evacuation.

Today after Chun Woo's violin lesson we'll head down to Light House to join Sheeyun. We advised him not to join us last night, at the time because of the high winds. Which reached 115 mph gusts a trifle west of us.

Yesterday was Chun Woo's seventeenth birthday, and a staggering one it was.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm glad you could get some sleep last night and hope that all stays safe while you are with Sheeyun.

And i hope that Chun Woo's eighteenth year is far less interesting than the past two (still interesting for HIM, just not "Interesting Times" interesting). May he find paths on which he can thrive.
