Things i learned about Kiva this week: loans go *fast*. I've had money to load burning a hole in my pocket so i've made loans to industries and regions that aren't my first concern. This week i realized that i could get an RSS feed of loans, and even that is too slow as Colombian loans show up in the feed and then are all filled by the time i checked.

While Christine was at She's Geeky, i listened to a playlist generated by the iTunes "genius" from a King Crimson seed. Other than occasional Todd Rungren, i found it Just Right. When Christine returned i quizzed her on the relationship between bands like Blue Oyster Cult and Led Zeppelin and ELO and Queensryche and King Crimson and Pink Floyd and the differences between psychedelic rock and art rock. Some time back i had made an aside comment about my fondness for Canadian Art Rock, by which i had meant Rush, and we still joke about that. A quick googling points out that that would be too narrow a definition, though, and Arcade Fire is included in some whole crop of Canadian Art Rock. (Christine recalls [livejournal.com profile] chaptal introduced us to Arcade Fire.)

By a long roundabout way, i arrived that the question. "If i were going to buy one steampunk album, is there one better than Lost Horizons by Abney Park?" I expect twitter answers, but answers here are also welcome. (I've got Saluki Regicide's Dematerialized which might count....)

I ponder listening to an album a month for my Molybdenum year: Led Zeppelin may provide the first couple albums as Christine seems to have found nigh virgin British vinyl on eBay. To be digitized.

Lunch was, again, miso soup with baked tofu and a dose of Heavenly Chef's Hunan Red Chili Sauce (made in San Leandro). I continue to mix warmed orange juice with tea or rooibos chai. No appetite, but quite thirsty.
