Oh, pout. I was cruising along this morning -- slept in only an hour, woke to clear sinuses, felt just fine! Made myself breakfast, took care of the cats for the first time since... Tuesday? Was sitting at my desk, and then about 9:30 some inner timer went off and i began coughing and feeling woosy and ... sigh. Back into bed for a while.
I wish i knew what was the trigger.
Christine's clearly not at 100% but she's off to She's Geeky this afternoon. [Time passed]
I don't quite know if my appetite is back or not. I did feel inspired by cutting into the less than ripe avocado (doh!) to make a citrus avocado salad with remnant sesame orange dressing. Had it been ripe, i would have just eaten it with a spoon.
I did think about sitting outside in the sun today, but it turned out the seating areas were all in shadow much of the afternoon.
Watched The Watchmen last night. The visuals were enjoyable but it dragged on. I'm not sure if i'm reaching a new threshold of discernment, if i've lost patience with unsophisticated relationships, or if i've just lucked into two diversions that both had implausible motivations based on relationships. I found the Dr Manhattan - Silk Spectre relationship unbelievable, and since so much hinged on isolating Dr Manhattan, that shot the plot. Or perhaps the beyond Bechdel Fail is what kills the plot for me. I regret that, because there was something in the treatment of the superhero that seemed meaningful.
The novel i read this week didn't exactly scream Bechdel fail, but by the end of the five hundred some pages i really didn't care about any of the characters. I think there was a really good novel in there -- the post-apocalyptic earth was fascinating -- but ...
* card to Grandmama, Kage Baker;
* donation to Friends in the Arts;
* found old Readerware disk with license keys, downloaded new code to Mau, ported old DB to Mau;
* lights and darks laundry, linens set aside for another time (I want clean jeans and sweatshirt);
* roomba'd the living room until it finally quit of its own accord;
* posted stuff to Freecycle and am impatiently waiting for "awaiting Mod approval" to change;
* watched an episode of Farscape;
* continued to ponder The Watchmen.
