Last night i bought Darjeeling, a lovely font like Optima that has "Indian themed" decorations (paisleys) and 102 discretionary ligatures. Open Office uses the ligatures, which means when i type a word in a script font like Apple Chancery letters like the ff are linked.

I've now spent an hour trying to get the ligatures to show, discovering that TextEdit gives me access to controlling ligatures but doesn't reveal any with Darjeeling. Not that i'm particularly disappointed. A while back i fell in love with Optima as headings with Garmond. Darjeeling looks even better, i think.

Oh, to grow up and find myself working in print design....

The other Indian themed purchase was dinner, at the Indian-Chinese fusion restaurant Temptations.

Heading home after finishing The Thin Book of Appreciative Inquiry, i wanted to return the book and wanted to stop by OSH to get a mount for my improvised swift. Christine was tempted away from work by the thought of dinner out, so we ran errands and had a lovely meal. The ginger sauce on my dish was fiery; i thank heavens Christine got a rice dish.

The 1" diameter dowel from OSH fits perfectly into Christine's mic stand. Mounting the lazy susan ball bearing kit onto a round surface is less than ideal: we'll see if i have any wood saw fu as i try to create a flat mounting area.

Far too much of this morning spent playing with font book and creating a collection of many of my Open Type fonts -- and i just now figured out how to do that efficiently. Arg.

I've also installed Apple Font Tool Suite 3.1.0.mpkg. Do i have time to play with this? No.
