I think i missed the window for the open source loom but its funding was successful. This is an open source tracking collar -- and one of the gifts is an tracking tag for a pet. I wonder if the pledge gift is one of their products: but it does point to the broader utility of funding an open source project like this!

Coffee with colleagues at 9 am, home, then out with Christine to the city. We visited the Prel-- Library, a private library, open to the public. Spent time talking with M, who makes lots of eye contact. Feeling a little awed at her delight at seeing us. Headed south, starved, and gambled on finding something out on Seaport Blvd. http://bellabythebay.ypguides.net/ not yet open for dinner. Stopped at Fiesta Del Mar II in MV and ate on the patio. (GORGEOUS DAY) Stopped for weekly groceries (not much needed). Home, & took photo for mail art project. Played with layout program. Hour long skype visit with parents.

Mom continues raving about Karen Armstrong, also about some brain imaging book. Googling "book brain imaging meditation prayer tolerance fundamentalism depression" brings up something by Andrew Newberg, but apparently he's a book factory. Christine overheard Mom's imprecise summary of the book "written in plain English not science," and was put out by the flakiness and broad unbelievable statements. I try to walk the balance of being interested without getting sucked in.

Returning to the mail art project, i couldn't get the text to pop. Gave up and we retired to the living room. I began a shibori inspired tie-dye tie on the nightgown, watched a police procedural.
