I've spent much of yesterday, which i took off, planning a road trip for the 20th of May, when a annular eclipse will be visible across the northern part of California (and into Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, apparently). I've made great use of Google Earth and Google Maps and have projected Forest Service topos. Christine muttered that i did more GIS work yesterday than she will this semester. I enjoyed the planning and research a great deal, and i marvel at the wonder of Google Earth: i was able to check the angle of the sun and find a good spot for shooting the eclipse without having to make trips to see the lay of the land. Were i a professional, this might not be good enough, and i recognize i spent lots of time. I could have driven there and back -- except i wouldn't have known where "there" was.

I also had two pots of tea.

Recognizing the work week approaching, i also did some chores. Laundry is washed, and the living area has had Yuletide decor packed away. A collection of silk flowers in yellows and blues replaces the tree and its red glow. On Sunday i also managed some other house care, including buying a drum auger and getting the flow in one of the sinks to be acceptable. Our home isn't "spring clean" but

I did not get correspondence or Meeting stuff done; i did sleep a great deal.

It's been an odd and pleasant vacation: i let go and did just let things happen much of the time.

Now, back to work.
