7:30 eastern, 4:30 pacific: Hey, my pre-alarm (the chant music that i schedule to play in the hour before i wake up) just went off. Thank heavens it didn't go off at the 4:30 Eastern, but it didn't go off in time for me to wake at 6 Eastern. I "overslept" most of my reading and journaling time.

I'm at the hotel close to the home office. Yesterday's travel was basically uneventful. During taxi and takeoff, I wrote over and over, "Imagine my chagrin as i found my Christmas cards, stamped and addressed, but not written and sent, when i went to look for some note cards." It made for efficient note writing, at least. I made progress on my crochet project: a flirty summer top to wear around the house with a wrap skirt.
While crocheting i listened to Resnick's Starship Rebel. The first disappointment was in the performance of the reading. Laurie King's The God of the Hive was read so that the "he said" and "she said" could be elided. This reader kept them in, and for a bit i thought it would drive me nuts. I think i also read (or listen) to military sci fi like this because i like the idealized heroic leaders, particularly Honor Harrington. I admit i've come into a series at book four, but i do find that Resnick is telling me what a great leader the captain of this fleet is rather than making me believe it. Last night, as i was trying to entertain myself before sleep, i tried streaming an episode of the BBC's Robin Hood. (Written with "modern sensibilities." No hats.) The show kept stopping to buffer, and i listened to the audio book as i waited. I suppose i like this show at this point because it demonstrates how Robin is an inspiring leader, pulling the not-so merry men around him.
Between flying and turning in, i had a chance to meet
laughingrat in person, and we had a yummy Thai dinner and turn at Jeni's. At Jeni's, we were offered a free "One Night in Bangkok" sundae: the ... ice cream-ista? was practicing, and the banana wasn't quite as elegant as in the picture. We had to turn it away for three reasons:
* we were full,
* i could have made room but i really didn't want More Cold,
* i felt pursued by cilantro as there had been a cilantro salad on top of my fish dish at the Thai restaurant.
I felt i'd be having chats over dinner with
laughingrat for years.

I'm diving into fiscal year planning shortly, no doubt carrying on into dinner tonight. The biggest disappointment so far on this trip is that the pants my mother bought me for my birthday, that i tried on when visiting in early December, are terribly snug. No regular exercise through the winter has had an effect on my shape. They are wearable, but i don't think i would have chosen them for this meeting had i tried them on.
