Yesterday: pleasant work at home day, starting at a reasonable hour. I got a little laundry done between calls and walked our neighbor's dog. The other neighbor with more crisis issues called, and we chatted for a few minutes. In the late afternoon i looked at Peer to Peer University and discovered they have a python (programming language) course.

The exercises were trivial, but not so trivial that i didn't make mistakes! Indeed, they were just right to help me exercise the difference between python and gawk as far as variable types work. Unfortunately, the exercises still allowed me to think in Fortran: i'm not yet at the object oriented switch. I did enjoy the engagement with the first real chapter of exercises and then i worked through a "challenge" at P2PU.

In the evening i walked around the pool, under the stars, reading Quarter Share. I was too engaged to put it down when i came in, and i read for most of the evening.

I avoided some of the bigger tasks on my plate by diving into learning and then a book, but they were both very rewarding dives. And i am quite happy that i can walk and read at the same time. The orange cats who were out and playing were quite entertained by my pacing. "Oh, she's chasing us!" and they'd dash around, then when i passed, they'd trot up behind me calling out.

It is good to be feeling a certain ease in my heart, even if the to do list is not any easier. I do think the changes i've observed at work really do help me feel less distress.
