I found two hornworms last night, including one that was HUGE, on a tomato plant and dispatched them. It's the same plant on which i found this parasitized individual. Well, it's a vibrant ecosystem out there!

In other insect news, some inattentive paper wasps have built a nest on a stalk of the bearsfoot -- think of a well branched sunflower plant. Apparently they should vacate by the first freezes, so i suppose i can manage to avoid disturbing that location for another five or six weeks. It certainly seems like a poor site, the equivalent of a foundation on sand. The stalk is already sixty degrees off of vertical due to wind and rain some weeks ago, and likely to come down all the way if we see heavy rain again.
