In the good news department: the heel cups in the vibram five fingers seem to be effective with the achilles tendonitis issue. Perhaps i should bring an ice pack to the office.

I do seem to have a couple of canker sores: this is unexpected. I don't think i've had them in a long while, certainly not a sequential pair. Add this with headaches, and a strange sharp pain in my larynx that has happened three times now while i was speaking (the first time several weeks ago, then a recurrence on Monday, and now today), and the procrastinatory malaise: it seems i'm turning into a "bundlelump" (Christine's pet term for me when i am sick and sore and need petting.)

The larynx thing seems more mechanical - like hurting something while exercising it -- but i wonder if it's a secondary issue from GERD. I suspect i have GERD but i don't have a great deal of discomfort from it. I became curious about it when i discovered GERD could trigger the asthma and allergy reactions, and i do occasionally have reflux to the point where i do notice the literal reflux. Could it be eating away at my throat? I dunno. I have a doctor appointment in early July with my new primary care physician who is back from a long maternity leave.

Oh shit, the canker sores. D: That's interesting about the Vibram shoes. They look so...unsupportive...to me. Nice to hear they're just the opposite.

In my experience (FWIW) when I had serious throat-closing and pain issues in the morning, it was in fact my GERD. I was not *feeling* the GERD any other time, like with heartburn, because I was taking enough of my heartburn meds that it kept the more overt symptoms down. But apparently while I slept, the acid was creeping up my esophagus and then slopping over into my vocal chords. True! I started taking my GERD meds every single day and the problem rapidly ceased.

(Did I tell you this already? Also, is that "chords" or "cords"?)

Oh interesting, hmm. Yeah, it was usually in the morning for me, although not always. In my case, the pain seemed to drive mostly from the vocal cords' swelling, so that when I went to swallow pills or eat, it was real agony. Hmm. I wonder if it would be worth it for you to get someone to peek at your vocal cords? It's a little creepy--they put a tiny camera up your nose and down your throat. Not to weird you out. But if you're prepared (I wasn't), it might be easier. Sorry, this kind of verges on medical advice.
