My blender died a week or so ago. I'd used it for making hummus and other chopping/grinding tasks. A food processor would likely be a better fit. Best, though, would be some manual operation metal device, not some motor device with lots of plastic.

I have a pastry blade thing that i've used before for hummus and last night's mashed potatoes, turnips, and (golden) beets. It's OK, but there might be some other tool better for the purpose.

Any pointers? Durability, manual operation, and minimal plastic are currently what i want to optimize.

Another thing i wish to have is a spring LED light string. I see dragonfly, butterflies, and flower strings on eBay and Amazon, but i was spoiled by Christmas sales of snowflake lights at $5. It's probably better (environmentally) to forgo such junk, really, but i did enjoy having those lights strung up by the door. Long days will be here soon, though.

Stopped working in the early afternoon and took a nap that extended to a longer nap. This is somewhat like Tuesday, when i came home early and took a nap. Sick?

The evening was marked by a distinct lack of any motivation of any kind, and i was in bed early again. I definitely have a canker that is inflamed and causing malaise beyond the immediate ulcer. I'm also experiencing other headaches.

The pollen is visible on cars right now: could this simply be allergies and my antihistamine no longer fights well for me? (Today's allergy levels: Thursday - 6.6/Medium ; Today's predominant pollen: Alder, Cedar/Juniper and Birch.)

And this morning my digestive system is in a riot. What now?

I suppose this could be stress overload. It's not as bad as last summer, and it certainly seems work doesn't have any new extrinsic stresses. Stress from household issues such as the car adventure and surgery planning and loans is probably non-negligible.

I have been remarkably social, for me, what with time spent with folks over the weekend. I am looking at dinner out with Christine and a newcomer to the bay area tonight (a friend of a friend). Tomorrow, a friend is coming over for lunch. Email is taking up a good deal of my morning reflection time. There's also a memorial service i am arranging: this too is a bit of a weight.

The good news is that DE, someone i have been supporting through a rough time, has been vindicated at last. She is back to being able to plan and manage her own time, as opposed to being dependent on others. I'm happy for the chance to have stood with her through this time and get to know her well.

Blargh, sorry about the digestive system. Maybe an old-school food mill would work? I keep wondering what ladies in the Middle East use/used before food processors...

Second the food-mill idea. Mine is all metal except for the plastic handle-thingy. Warning, though: mine never would do hummus; chickpeas are a bit too tough.

I hear good things about potato ricers too.
